Even as more and more electric vehicles roll out onto the streets, the Nissan LEAF still stands out among the rest. From a healthy driving range to myriad driver assistance and convenience technologies, this is one electric car you don’t want to miss.
Battery power
The 2023 Nissan LEAF is available with one of two different batteries. The smaller 40-kWh battery has a range of 149 miles, while the larger 60-kWh battery will see you through 212 miles on a full charge.[1] Regardless of which battery you go for, though, you’ll enjoy all the pep and instant torque offered by an electric car.
To keep it charged up, you can take advantage of any of the three charging levels the LEAF is capable of. It can charge from a standard 120-volt outlet, a 240-volt outlet that you can install at home, or a 480-volt public quick-charging station. The 240-volt option will charge almost all the way overnight, while the quick-charge option can charge the EV up in about an hour.
Convenient interior
The LEAF isn’t a large car, but it cleverly makes the most of the space it has. You can access 30 cubic feet of cargo space when you fold down the rear seats, but even with the seats up, you still have 23.6 cubic feet in which to store your luggage. And the rear seat is a 60-40 split bench, so if you need to carry both passengers and cargo, the LEAF can accommodate that, too.
Automatic Temperature Control lets you set your ideal cabin temperature, and then the car takes care of maintaining it for you. To help you out during cold weather, the LEAF offers an available heated steering wheel, as well as heated front seats and mirrors. And when you’re driving at night, you won’t get blinded by bright headlights behind you, thanks to the available auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Streamlined connectivity
An 8-inch NissanConnect® infotainment screen offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, so you can easily interface with the car’s system through your phone. If you opt for the advanced available NissanConnect® EV with Services system, though, you can do even more — it lets you set your cabin temperature, check your charge, view vehicle alerts, and more, all through your phone.
Available Nissan Door to Door Navigation also works with your phone, so if you have to finish your trip on foot, you’ll have a seamless transition from your LEAF model’s screen to your phone’s screen. Thanks to a USB-C port in the front and USB-A ports in both rows, neither you nor your passengers will ever have to worry about a dead phone battery. Meanwhile, in the driver’s seat, you can customize your digital display with a variety of vehicle information, like navigation, your remaining range, or your current power usage.
Comprehensive safety tech
Nissan has packed the LEAF full of safety and driver assistance programs to help you out on the road. Firstly, there’s the standard Safety Shield® 360 suite, which bundles several safety systems together, including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist technology.
There’s also available Nissan ProPILOT Assist, which is an advanced cruise control system that lets the LEAF shoulder some of the stress of long drives. It can keep your car centered, speed up, and slow down as traffic requires. Not only that, but the LEAF offers available Intelligent Trace Control to help steer through curves, Active Ride Control for a smooth ride, an Electronic Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold to help you out during stop-and-go traffic, and more.
If it’s time for you to turn over a new leaf with an electric car, come check out a 2023 Nissan LEAF at KH Nissan in Summit, Mississippi.
